ZOUK

ZOUK

Creating a new site experience for the stalwart of nightlife in Singapore.

A little about the brand:

Zouk is an institution when it comes to the nightlife in Singapore. They had been situated at Jiak Kim Street for 25 years and were making a much-watched move to a new space in Clarke Quay. They reached out for a site experience that would bring the new space to life. We wanted the work to acknowledge Zouk’s extraordinary heritage while carrying it’s unique spirit into the future.

“One Music, One Dance, One Tribe” is the ethos of the brand that also accurately sums up the experience of the club. We used that in our design of a site experience where users could explore the different rooms of Zouk seamlessly despite the grids that demarcated the information.

Some challenges in getting this out:

Striking the balance between the site experience we envisioned and making sure users can quickly access the information they need was the biggest challenge in developing the UX and UI of this project.

Why this mattered to me:

Translating a real-life experience into a digital one is always challenging – this one felt a little closer to home because it involved a brand I grew up with and capturing the spirit of the space also felt like an attempt to articulate the zeitgeist of a generation.
